Moderate. Tolerant of salty wind and may get some salt spray. Exposure to salt spray would be uncommon (major storms).

River banks, coastal pinelands, edges of salt marshes.

• Larval host plant for ceraunus blue (Hemiargus ceraunus) butterflies.
• Attracts bees and butterflies.
